Overnight Breakfast Casserole Recipe
Ingredients:
- 6 slices bread, cubed (French, sourdough, or whole wheat)
- 1 lb breakfast sausage (or bacon/ham), cooked & crumbled
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or Swiss)
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp garlic powder (optional)
- ½ tsp onion powder (optional)
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard (adds depth of flavor)
- Chopped green onions or parsley (for garnish)
Instructions:
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Layer the bread cubes evenly in the dish.
- Sprinkle cooked sausage (or bacon/ham) over the bread.
- Add shredded cheese on top.
- Whisk eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and mustard in a large bowl.
- Pour the egg mixture evenly over the casserole.
- Cover and refrigerate overnight (or at least 4 hours) to soak up flavors.
Baking Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Remove casserole from fridge and let it sit at room temp for 15 minutes.
- Bake uncovered for 40-45 minutes, until golden brown and set in the center.
- Let it rest for 5 minutes, then garnish with green onions or parsley.
