French Toast Casserole Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 loaf French bread (or brioche, challah), cut into 1-inch cubes
  • 6 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk (or half-and-half for creamier texture)
  • ½ cup heavy cream (optional, for extra richness)
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • ¼ tsp salt

For the Topping:

  • ¼ cup butter, melted
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ½ cup chopped pecans (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Add bread cubes in an even layer.
  2. Whisk eggs, milk, heavy cream, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Pour mixture evenly over the bread, pressing gently to soak.
  4. Cover and refrigerate overnight (or at least 4 hours).

Baking Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
