Ingredients:
- 2 green plantains (unripe for best texture)
- 2 tbsp olive oil (or avocado oil)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
- 1 tbsp water (for smashing)
Instructions:
- Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Peel & slice plantains – Cut off the ends, slice the peel lengthwise, and remove it. Cut plantains into 1-inch thick rounds.
- First fry: Toss plantain slices with oil and air fry for 5 minutes, flipping halfway.
- Smash the plantains – Use a glass or tostone press to flatten each slice.
- Second fry: Lightly brush with more oil, sprinkle with salt & garlic powder, then air fry again for 4-5 minutes until crispy.
- Serve hot with mojo sauce, guacamole, or your favorite dip!
